Wow that Once a week

thing kind of went out the window. It seems that most of my time is taken up with just getting what I need done and then just a bit of down time.

BUT that has changed as of last Thursday when I no longer work in the bookstore. Now its not all that bad, I would have never quit with out having another job lined up but I was miserable there. Life consisted of waking up and running like a chicken with my head cut off doing various things such as errands, cleaning house, school work, etc. Then it was pick the kids up from school and kiss them on the forehead as I went to work. Then by the time I got home from work the youngest was already in bed asleep, the middle was getting in bed and the oldest was getting ready for bed. So Monday through Thursday I saw my kids not at all.

Also not having this job opens up the ability to accept temporary jobs (like one I did not turn down but had to inform them that I could not jeopardize the job I currently had for a job that would end at Christmas).

Now the loss of income (even though it was small) is not a good thing. But I am hoping and praying that the free time will allow me to get my name out there more for CTS.

Back in school

Yup as of today I am back in class. I am going for my Bachelors of Science in Computer Network Management. I am back at Westwood also but this time all my classes are online.

The workload today was a killer. Hopefully it will lighten up a bit, if not I may have an aneurysm!

And since things are going psycho I have no idea how often I will update. I will attempt to at least once a week but no promises.

Oh let me change the music for y'all.

I think Summer is here

Because it is hot!!!!!!!!!! We have been having days of 100 F+ for a few weeks now and the heat index has been between 105 and 110 F!!!

What sucks about this is that my apartment is cooled by a "Water Cooler" and not central air. We can control the thermostat in our apartment but the "cold" (what a joke) air is piped to our apartment from a building that "cools" all the apartments in the complex. The air that comes out of the vent is slightly cooler than the air in the apartment to begin with. And to top it off the master bedroom is over an open style garage/carport, so that heat comes up through the floor as well as the two walls that are outside walls. I broke down yesterday and placed a blanket over the door to the balcony hoping that by blocking the sun it would be cooler. Still sweated like a pig all night!!!

Oh to live in Antarctica!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Busy Busy Busy

Between work, trying to get things financially sound again, looking for a job, working on the business, playing bachelor, driving/riding a total of 24+ hours (over 4 trips spread over two weekends), cleaning house, getting re-enrolled in school.........

Yeah I have been busy and thus this poor site has taken a backseat.

So as the last item said I am re-enrolling. I will be doing Westwood Online and I will be getting a Bachelors in Computer Network Management (the same degree program I got my Associates in but just more info). I am starting Aug 2 and all my classes are online. My first term will be Intro to Business, Success Strategies, and Designing a Directory Service.

So those of you who pray please pray for me and my family as things are rather stressfull at the moment.

Bachelorhood!

Well we went to San Angelo last Friday to my wife's oldest sisters house. That is a 5 hour drive from Dallas (if ya can go 60 and not stop on the way) so it takes about 6 and half hours with the kids. We get there and that makes the count of people jump from the 5 (me included) and 1 dog up to 10 people and 2 dogs. Then late Saturday the other sister and her family show up, new people count is 15 and the 2 dogs ( I would include the cats but since they where never around they did not add to the joyous confusion. Nor do the horse and many goats.)

Well then Sunday rolled around and it was time for me to head back to Dallas, alone. So I went from a house containing 15 people and 2 dogs to a house now containing 1 person and 1 dog. Today was strangely quite. Last night was odd sleeping alone.

Yes it is kinda nice to have peace and quite for 5 sleeps (that is how we measure time for the kids) but at the same time I miss my brood and am missing the whole lot a rambunctiousness going on in San Angelo. But I do head back Friday and get to spend Saturday with the group.

Oh and music is changed!

Wow! Tempus Fugit!

And in more ways than one!

Yesterday was me and me wife's 13th anniversary. And then on Tuesday I will be turning 33.

But also I can't believe it's been almost a week since I last blogged. And sadly I do not have much to blog about even now.

Last Sunday we had Home Group after church. The plan was for our group to go to a park and have lunch and fellowship. And as luck would have it a park near my apartments had just been remodeled and had a water play area built. So we went there, the kids had a blast playing in the water. It was fun.

Ya know this is a boring post. ;-) Maybe I will have more to post soon.

Grilling!

mmmmmmmmmmmm nothing is better than cooking outside. Yesterday we had hamburgers and today we are having bratwurst and hotdogs.

Today is also special in that I am teaching my son the fine art of grilling. Yup he is helping me as I type this. The fire is just lit so its burning high and he is watching the flames. Next we will be grilling the food and I will have him do the turning of the meat.

Wished we had some stuff to grill with the meat such as corn, or tators or even some asparagus. Oh well brats and dogs are great alone!

Vacation Bible School

The church is doing its annual VBS this week (the 19th through the 23rd). This years theme is Arctic Edge: Where Adventure Meets Courage. The kids seem to be really enjoying it and it seems to have a nice message this year based on Joshua 1:9 "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." (KJV).

The kids are learning to be courageous in their faith. From the Arctic Edge website "Arctic Edge helps kids find the courage required to follow Jesus in every day challenges as they learn that God is always with them."

And as normal the music has been changed.

Saturday: A day of dates!

I started a few months back going on a date with my children on Saturday morning. Then after attempting to figure out how to do it and be fair I realized I needed the same thing with my wife. So now on Saturday mornings me and one member of my family go "out", and spend some quality time with each other.

The first date was me and my oldest (she brought her friend on that one) and we went to Krispy Kreme donuts then went to Target. The nest one was with my son and we just went to various store and spent some time talking and looking at things. The next date was me and my wife, we went to Krispy Kreme and then a grocery store with out any children along (its amazing how peaceful that is ;-) ). The it was me and the youngest, she wanted to go to Party City (party supply store) so off we went and then to McDonald's.

Well the dates have been varied. Some dates have been nothing more than going to a store and just letting the one choose what part of the store we hung out in (like one was at Target in the toy department playing). Others have been going out for breakfast McDonald's. Some of the dates have been forced into the later parts of the day due to other commitments (either my wife's or one of the kids). Also we have gone to Wal-Mart to spend birthday money.

The point is not where we go or what we do but to just spend time with each other in a way that my attention is not on other things but on whom I am with. The conversation is not directed by me, the location where we go is not decided by me, the focus of the time is on whom I am with. In fact I wont look at my watch to check the time (unless we have to be somewhere at a certain time and our time is limited)

The reason of this post is not to brag or anything like that, but it is a reminder to take time out and spend it with the ones you love. It does not have to be fancy or cost money (most dates have not cost a penny) but what's important is just being with the person and focusing on them. Doing what they want, even if it makes you squirm ;-).

So go on a date with your child, McDonald's is not THAT bad ;-)

Day in court

and it was no fun!

I got a ticket back in Nov and had to go to court today. First ticket in my close to 15 years driving and it is costing me $314+ (Defensive Driving cost) in fees and fines. First ticket equaled me not knowing a single thing about how to handle the case.

I am glad it is over (the court part) but now to come up with the money before the 60 days is going to be a challenge.

Well enough with that time for some new music........

Long day

Was woken up by the phone ringing about 30 minutes before the alarm went off; it was my boss asking if I could come in as soon as possible as the morning person had just called in sick! So I have been here at the bookstore since about 7:45 this morning and will be here till about 9:00 tonight (did have a break from about 1:45 pm to about 5:00 pm). So a ten hour day is not that bad. The extra pay will help lots with the fact my GI Bill is now no more since I graduated.

Speaking of the GI Bill I am looking into enrolling with Westwood Online and getting my BA. This will allow me to keep my Gi Bill while trying to get the business up and running as well as have me earn a bachelors in my field which can do nothing but help me in the future.

As for the business I am now doing a part time job hunt. Checked out the local school districts to see the qualifications for substitute teaching and most want a BA or higher, the one that I found that does not require a BA dose require male subs to shave (I have had a goatee since 1998 and I am balking at the idea of shaving to work as a sub where the work wont be steady).

Another aspect of going for my BA is that I can be hired by the local campus of Westwood as a student employee (hopefully) and that means that this temporary job here in the bookstore would be a tad more secure.

Well that is enough rambling for one blog so off I go......................................

.........oh yeah new music as normal (for those who turn off your sound) ;-)
